About the Author

Welcome to my author site where I showcase my work and keep you up to date on coming attractions. Of course, I am most excited right now about my debut middle grade fiction novel, Samantha Smee: A Pirate’s Life, a not-quite-yet-coming-of-age novel on the High Seas. Although this is my debut as a novelist, I first wrote Sammi Smee’s story as an animated film by the same name. Samantha Smee: A Pirate’s Life the screenplay was ranked in the top ten animated feature length screenplays on Coverfly and was considered by the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition to be a “deeply original homage and origin story combined.” Now that I’ve expanded Sammi’s story into a novel, I can see there are plenty more adventures in Sammi’s future.

I also wrote a musical called Star Trek The Broadway Musical based on the original television series and I am currently working on my second screenplay, Tyger in the Night, which at this point still defies a brief description. Other points of interest include my serving in the Peace Corps in central Asia as well as completing my PhD from UCLA.  I am currently an adjunct professor of philosophy and political science at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California and remotely at Cypress College in Cypress, California. If you’re interested in learning more about any of my work, check out my Portfolio page, then send me a note in the contact section. I’d love to hear from you!
